Sefa Skills Centre: Staff Coaches

Age GroupSession Themes

U8-U9 (2016 – 2017 born)

Our youngest age groups will be getting the highest number of touches possible.
Whether they are dribbling, evading or shooting, we want the players to work towards being very confident with the ball at their feet.
SEFA coaches encourage players to play without fear and to be brave in all aspects of their game.

  • Dribbling / Running With the Ball (Understanding how to love working with the ball)
  • Turning / Evasion / Change of Pace (Confidence and bravery with the ball)
  • 1v1 Attacking and Defending (The “what”, the “why”, and the “how” to succeed)
  • Passing and Receiving Techniques (Using both feet equally, positive first touch)

U10-U12 (2013 – 2015 born)

This age group is considered the “Golden Age of Learning”.
For athletes at this stage, SC provides a mix of individual skill development and an introduction to sharing the ball.
Ultimately, working together to defend, possess and finish is the goal.

  • Passing and Receiving Techniques (Using both feet equally, positive first touch)
  • 1v1 Attacking and Defending (The “what”, the “why”, and the “how” to succeed)
  • Small Group Defending (Working together as a pair, understanding the principles)
  • Passing Patterns (Weight, technique, passing combinations)
  • Finishing (Understanding techniques, power, angles and situations)

U13-U15 (2010 – 2012 born)

For the older age groups SC emphasizes passing, attacking, defending and finishing as a pair, or small group.
Sessions still contain lots of individual touches and mastering the ball, but more time is spent working in pairs and small groups.

  • Passing and Receiving Techniques (Using both feet equally)
  • 1v1 / 2v2 Attacking and Defending (The “what”, the “why”, the “how” to succeed)
  • Small Group Attacking / Defending (Understanding how to work in pairs / small groups)
  • Passing Combination Play (Working with players, while developing techniques)
  • Finishing (Understanding techniques, power, angles and situations)
